At the time this edition of NavCoin Community News was published, the 75% ‘yes’ vote necessary to approve the NavCoin Core 4.2.1 soft fork had been exceeded. If the level remains above 75% at the end of the current block period (2197440), the soft fork locks in and is scheduled to activate after another block period (at block number 2217600). Last week the Core Developers discovered and fixed an issue that prevented NavPi’s updating 4.2.0 and signal their support for the community fund accumulation soft fork. It was good to see Core Developers rallying to fulfill the objectives laid out in the Developer Manifesto - ensuring the stability of the network takes priority over all other tasks. So thanks to everyone who helped out - and burned the midnight oil for the greater good of the NavCoin network.

This week the big news is that NavCoin Core 4.2.0 has now been released that includes two soft forks requiring approval by the network. This core protocol update involved developers throughout the global NavCoin community - so a big shout out to all those who contributed their time and expertise. It’s more proof that NavCoin’s decentralization really works! But it’s not just NavCoin developers who have been working hard, as you’ll see there has been lots of other exciting community activity happening all over the world.

Following on from the NavCoin Brand Guidelines published a couple of weeks ago, the NavCoin Core content contributors have added even more resourceful content that will further help empower community members to become active contributors in their own right. Expanding on that theme, there has been plenty of activity by community members this past week - from more merchants in Italy to a tipping bot on Telegram. Developers have been hard at it too, focussing on the retesting of the NavCoin Core 4.2.0 release candidate, and creation of NavCoin Protocol Improvement Proposals (NPIP’s).

The NavCoin Core 4.2.0 Release Candidate including Community Fund accumulation is now ready for peer review. Because NavCoin is an open source community project with various contributors its important to provide everyone with the opportunity to perform due diligence prior to releasing any consensus changes. The NavCoin Core developers have enacted a policy to create a release candidate and publicly notify all interested parties of any important updates prior to merging the changes into the master branch.

NavPay 4.1 released. NavCore is now NavHub.
